Grana Padano is a hard Italian cheese made in the Po Plain. Using raw milk from cows fed in the northern regions of Italy, such as Piemonte, Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia Romagna and Trentino Alto Adige, the production of this cheese is characterized by its high quality. The milk is collected from the morning and evening milkings, with the evening milking standing overnight to extract some of its butter cream, then mixed with the whole milk from the morning milking. After adding ferments and rennet, the curd is lightly cooked at 54°C before being matured for at least 20 months.

Tasting Notes

Grana Padano has a sweet flavor with herbal and nutty touches. Its texture is firm and hard, with a light beige paste and a smooth, thick, light brown rind. During maturation, the cheese expands and its flavor becomes more pronounced without becoming spicy, remaining soft and delicate.

Pairing Suggestions

This cheese pairs well with artisan breads, fresh and dried fruits, and a glass of dry white wine or a light red wine. It is also ideal for grating over pastas, risottos and salads.

Storage Instructions

Store cheese wrapped in wax paper or parchment paper in the refrigerator. Take it out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor.
